Important! : Clicking noise only whe gas pedal is pressed

  1. #1
I have a Saxo 1.5D manual transmission. The car is making clicking noises only when the accelerator pedal is pressed, clutch not pressed and moving on any gear.

The problem started after suddenly pressing the accelerator while driving in second gear.

    Anyone got any idea?

Not familiar with the design of a 1.5d throttle cable, but clearly your cable is catching/snagging on something.

Look for any obvious signs if there isn't any getting the cable swapped will be the ideal thing to do

There were no movable parts observed nearby the cable that could have caused this.

The sound has now disappeared, but I believe the problem is still there. I don't know if this is related to another recent problem with fifth and reverse gear that are popping out when accelerating.

From other threads here, next thing to check are engine mounts, linkage and CV joint; guys help here is really really welcomed....

I used to get a click, was nothing major but once I noticed it I noticed it all the time. I've just replaced my drive shafts and it's gone.

Not that it could be the same for you but since you mention it.

Thanks Mickswan I will check that as well since car make clicks occasionally when turning and driving over a speed bump.

The cause found was the fifth gear nut loosen out and fell off, I realized when reverse an fifth started giving me problems... the damages includes the 5th syncro ring and the small locking springs...the solution was to use an bearing lock part 2314.43., as well to replace damaged parts and to do an gear oil change.

    Now car is running well.

Thanks a lot guys for your help...
