Saxo revving issues?

    I have a furio saxo and when it is nuteral it will rev fine and redline but when I drive it. It wont rev past 4 thousand the engine management lights is NOT on. And no codes come up when plugged in. Anybody got any ideas because it wont go past 85mph atm

    Possible head gasket failure. Pop the oil cap off and have a look, if it looks like mayonese then youl probably find your head gaskets gone.

    Sounds like you've not got enough fuel pressure and it's leaning out.

    Worn fuel pump or a bad regulator, depending on year the reg is either at the rail or part of the pump.

    when you rev in neutral, there's no load on the engine so it doesn't require much fuel, but when you plant it in gear it needs lots of fuel and the pump can't provide enough.



    Head gasket doesn't seem likely, with a power loss like that I'd expect your engine to be running very lumpy. not impossible and it's worth having a look.

    Mayo on the cap can be normal on 8v engines used on short journeys, so check your coolant as well for signs of oil and maybe get a compression test done.


    p.s you shouldn't be doing 85 but I know what you mean.
