Codes - P1327 and P0420

  1. #1
Now my OBD2 says P0420 is "Catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 1 - so is that the cat or lambda?

And the P1327 one just says refer to vehicle service manual. Going by the OBD2 everything is "OK" so..

Is there any sites or out with Citroen fault codes?

    Thanks Stevo. Much appreciated.

P1327 - S2000P; check ignition primary pattern for excessive peak voltage and spark line too short. Should be greater than 1ms. This fault code is usually caused by interference. Means nothing to me that.

    P0420 isnt on there.

    pm Prickl- oh wait

    P0420 is the cat converter:

"Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold "

either your cat is done, or your lambda sensor. You could try and blowtorch the shit out of the lambda tip, see if that makes it any better. Otherwise your cat ceramic filter is clogged up with shit.

Quit trying to have one up on me with each post. Boring.

It wouldnt suprise me if you knew actual nothing, sound like a arm chair mechanic, as said go back in gen chat. you are more use there.

Nah just taking the piss. The "armchair mechanic" as I seem to qualify, has been through 3 cat converters and two lambdas so far. Welcome to the club.

My orig cat and lambda's are on 90,450k atm. (11/12yr old car) I dont know what the life span of them is. Either one i guess. It hasnt caused me any problems yet. Light came on and went off a week later, but ran fine. Fueling etc hasnt been any different, not what i can tell anyway.

The other one has me puzzled but someone maybe able to help me.

So you're still running on the original parts, not bad actually. The life span of the cat depends on your driving and what type of commuting, short trips usually kill a cat within a couple of years. Fuck knows how long a lambda may last, I've done 120 kmiles on one and only changed it for good measure.

Don't rush to replace anything just yet, I'd start by giving the lambda a good cooking with a blowtorch then see if that makes it go back to normal.

P1327 is an ignition fault, when did you last change your spark plugs? An ignition problem may also give a false O2 reading on the lambda.
