I took the engine out my track vts back in march and stripped it down to put new rings - shells - mains and sump baffle in it but work got to busy so it got put on the back burner till now. I started to put it back together but for the life of me I can't remember which way the arrows on the pistons face is it towards the cam belt or flywheel ?

#2Any engine I've ever done, they point towards the cam belt.
Dont take that as gospel though, I've not seen a VTS in a long time! -
#3front or cam belt.

#4I to thought it was towards the cam belt but a friend said the french do this back to front as normally number 1 piston is by the cam belt but it's really the flywheel end.
-
#5indeed, number 1 is flywheel end, but with the arrows on the standard pistons they say "DIST" which is short for "courroie de distribution" French for timing belt.
