draining brake system

   I want to fully drain my brake fluid as I'm changing from low grade to racing 5.1 and don't want any residue. What is the total capacity of the system? Do I need a 500ml bottle or 1 litre? Are there any " pitfalls" with draining the whole system?

   Just flush it through, its still normal mineral fluid, if you drain it you risk having lots of air in the system, get a power bleeder on there and open each nipple in turn is the fastest and easiest way to do it.

   As said above best way is just to flush it through to be honest. Sometimes its an absolute nightmare getting all the air out of brake systems when the whole lot has been replaced or drained!

   like welshpug said, use a pressure bleeder. you can gravity bleed but it takes forever. pressure bleeders are fast and effective
