Best suspension setup for turbo car ??

  1. #1
I'm in the middle of rebuilding the car this winter and I'm after a new setup at the spax dampeners I have in have been in for a few year now.

What do people think will be best for the car not wanting to send more than £500 if I can help it.

    Thanks for any help

Sorry I only know what the nest suspension setup is for a car with K&N air filter.

Have a look at AST, Gaz, second hand pugsports.

Something along the lines of adjustable dampers, 200lb ish springs, uprated tbs and arbs on the back

Sounds good, but may struggle to do all that with a budget of £500...

I have some 180lb Faulkners for sale if you're interested john? Work well with 21mm and 19mm torsion bars in my experience. Just add a set of Bilstein Group Ns and away you go. Ideal setup if you want to add stiffer rear bars in at a later date.

Very helpful thanks. I might just put a K&N filter on and be done with it

Think I might try and go for some 200lb springs as I have a bit more weight up front with the BE box. Can you get different rate fixed group N dampeners or are they all the same

The Group N front dampers are all the same.

At 200lb, you won't have much of a drop at all - probably 30mm at best. You really need coilovers if you want that poundage combined with a ride height lower than 30mm ish.

Not to bothered on the ride hight more after better handling than looks

You've always got the option to uprate all the bushes as well, it's amazing the difference some polyrace bushes make

I have pugsport dampers in Saxo struts with 250lb coil overs and solid top mounts with strengthening plates. The steering arms have been lowered so they sit level and you'll get no bump steer. Only want 300 quid. handled brilliantly.

What hubs have they got in? We're they to match the be shafts you where running. ?

    Not b8's lol - I bent a pair.

I run gpN's all round now. Front springs are 180lb (-50mm). Rear lowered 40mm on standard arb/bars.

Sounds like an easier way to go. Not really wanting it that Low so would I go for 200lb ?

Yeah 200's will probably leave you at 30mm I guess. I have very limited knowledge of suspension so can't really give an objective answer though - I've just done what I've done and it's eventually worked lol

200lb on standard spring pan without going for coilovers will leave you at standard height.

Sounds similar to the ones I'm selling.

200lb is going to be a good 10mm or so higher than the above. I found the 180s gave a nice height and were still more than capable on track. Make me an offer collected john.
