if a battery left in a car for over half a year has a voltage drop to 7.8V, providing that the alternator charges it for a sufficient period of time, is the battery still good to go? and is there any way to thoroughly check it's ok, coz we went for a little drive after jump starting, he stalled it and we had to push... not doing that again!
can you save a battery?

#3mmk! thanks, i'll get on it!
-
#4If it's an enclosed battery which it probably will be then no. Some you can top the acid up.

#5Check all the cell things and top them up with deionised water.....lol at filling it up with acid!!
-
#6Erm trickle charge overnight then try it.
-
#7Charge it up and drop test it.
It may still start a car but if a cell is fooled. I.e won't keep charge long enough it'll go flat on you again. -
#8Charge it up and see,tbh if its still showing above 7v then it may be fine.
