Important! : No point in booking MOT?

    Hi guys!

I just went in for my free health check for my car to see what was wrong with it, and this is my list!

Radiator leaking from right hand side
OSF spring either fitting upside down or wrong one (surely they should know either or??)
OSF bottom ball joint gaitor damaged (guy that fitted it has clearly torn the gaitor)
Gearbox leaking oil from OSF driveshaft (apparently just the seal)
Exhaust leaking at both F + R joins
Nail in OSR tyre, right on the shoulder wall
Rear axle OSR axle bearing excessive movement. Beyond repair
ALL break pipes & flexi hoses need replaced
    Air Bag light is on

So yeah, no much point in booking it in for an MOT

Does anyone know the sizes of the radiator in mm so I can see about getting a new one?
Also got a rear axle just needing to get a courier to deliver it.
Is it really all that bad or once I do the axle, pipes and radiator its a walk in the park?

easy enough stuff to do really but its time consuming for the larger stuff. If you can do the work yourself then great, spend a weekend on it and it'll be done. If not scrap it - all that work in labour would add up to more than the cars worth.

Well some of the stuff I could get done at the college am at by the apprentices as a wee job so if that goes ahead I think I might be sorted!

Just need that damn axle, brake pipes and radiator out the road and the rest is a breeze

Just throw a new rad on. Brake pipes are straight forward. Axles the bug one out of them all.

as above if you were to give it to a garage to repair they would rape you a new arsehole, if you can, do it all your self and should be good as new

Could sort that for a couple of hundred if you did the work yourself

Spring just needs adjusting, strut off job. Since the struts off you should change the wishbone to sort the ball joint. New driveshaft seal on the same side, may as well throw new gearbox oil in.

    New tyre, simple.

Replace the exhaust may even get away with nee clamps or welding it.

Air bag light, search the forums could be a few things.

I'd just get a garage to do the pipes, shouldn't be too bad.

    New rad, cheap.

Strange how any nails in tyres, "just happen" to be right on the edge of the wall, so they can't legally repair them. Must be summat to do with tyre design, I reckon.

Least most can be repaired. On bikes your not supposed to repair certain speed rated ones.

I got a new rear on my bike at the same time as a mot and they forgot to charge me £140 saved. Two days later a big dirty screw in the top, tyre had to be dumped and I had to buy a new one!! That's Karma!!

Strut job needs spring compressors and such which I dont have, but I could probably nag the garage at the college to do that as I know its in the course as I done it myself I have a homemade brake clamp at home that I had to make at college so I could do all the pipes myself, then bleed the system and add new fluid. Done
The guy says all the exhaust needs is new clamps and thats it sorted.
Does anyone know the size of the radiator in mm? Dont wanna buy a rad thats too big for my 2001 vtr lol
This is much appreciated got me out my slump that my car was doomed xD

    H 390mm
    W 32mm
    L 322

Euro parts have them for £44 which isn't too bad.

If you take the strut off and take it to a garage it'll cost a couple of quid to sort it for you.

New clamps is a result, about a fiver and a bit paste.

    Radiator online is
    H 390
    L 297
    W 24
    approx.

    Would that be okay?

This is good news as its fairly cheap so thats the radiator sorted, and I have a perfect axle on standby to be shipped and the flexi hoses look to be around £4 online that I found that are 220mm for the rear and 315mm for the front so its all coming together!
