I had the exact same problem, theres so much to look at, it gets confusing. All i can say is what stevo said. I got a torch and looked in and eventually worked it out.
If i remember correctly youll have to take out the door handle and take the rod off from there, youll have to pull the rod out with the mechanism, itll bend but not too much, thats the longest rod by the way. You wont need to disconnect the interior locking pin rod as that, i think, cant come off without causing damage, but it doesnt need to come off anyway.
What i believe is the third and last rod, is the rod that connects to the key barrel. This is the difficult one. And hard to explain. To start with, youll need to take off the key barrel retaining clip. To do this you need to open the door, youll see a peice of dubber covering it, take it out(may not be there). Look from imside the door there should be a clip up against the key barrel side of the door. Its a 'u' shape clip thats sideways and have 2 holes, ones of which you should be able to see through the hole in the side of the door mentioned earlier. Either pull the bottom hole of the clip around the barrel or push it off with a screwdriver through the hole from the side of the door. The key barrel should now be loose, pill it out from the exterior and you should be able to unclip the rod.
This should enable you to pull the unit out.
Im not good at explaining things but i hope this helps if its not at the garage already
