Where do your temp dials sit? picture inside

    Hey guys.

As per title really, when driving, town, motorway whatever, where do your temp needles tend to sit?

I have an 02 vts and the engine temp sits at the 1/4 mark (sometimes lower!) and the oil sits just above 1/4

    pic:

Now whem im sat in traffic or just parked up with the engine running the engine temp needle will rise and the fan will kick in at just over the 1/2 line.

So my question, is my engine running cold/cool when driving or have i just got a faulty sensor?

Just i would imagine it should heat up half way, like all my previous cars.

Would like to add that when driving the heaters are warm and when parked/in traffic they get nice and hot as you would think they should.

Anyone care to shed any light?

    Thanks,

    Karl.

Both sit on half in traffic, motorway, hot days.

I would change the stat as its cheap. Fresh coolant, bled properly and go from there

I feel like ive answered this thread before

Seems fine to me, few cars I've had sit at about 1/4 to 1/3 and when your sitting there it'll go up to over half then the fan will kick in and it should sit at about half. Going to vary a bit car to car but seems ok.

most cars will run cooler on a motorway because of the air going through the engine bay due to higher speeds

I suspect the thermostat is not closing fully - I'd expect it to sit higher than that tbh, and the heaters should be hot rather than warm after the engines been running for (say) 20 minutes regardless if you'reon the motorway or stuck in traffic.

Replace the thermostat and see where that gets you
