#2Have you checked the switch under the handbrake itself? May be jammed
-
#3ye checked mate it, its pressing in and out as normal
-
#4Take the switch out & clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner(halfords)
-
#5Check that the handbrake actually presses the switch down. Mine presses the switch down, but the switch itself is slightly loose and the handbrake sort of pushes it to one side and doesn't quite close the switch (sometimes) A bit annoying when the light comes on at 70 on the motorway.

#6Even if u hold it down with your finger it wont go offQuote:Check that the handbrake actually presses the switch down. #7I've got the same problem... I got told it could be due to break ware? And I know I g
-
#8i was thinking could it be worn pads?
-
#9Yes, on some saxos can be worn pads, can also be the warness between the warn pads, handbrake or brake fluid, or the brake fluid sensor itself
-
#10It may be worn pads or in mine I had a fault with the connection to the switch, never bothered me tho as it's a pretty pointless light tbh, try picking a new switch up from a scrappy, that's what I did cost me £2 quid
-
#11A lot of cars illuminate the handbrake light permanently when the brake fluid is low, check that first
-
#12car needs obvious brake check.

#13this is driving me insane its not the switch and it has lots of brake fluid in it. the light is off sometimes when i first set off then randomly pops back on and stays on for the duration.
