Thinking of doing a boddies setup on a vts engine I've just bought I just wondered who would I need to speak to about getting a manifold made up for the boddies thinking of some gsxr1000 or r1 setup and I have been told I need some lower compression pistons which are bout £800 quid is there anything else I could do instead of buying these heard about putting a thicker head gasket on but don't like the idea of that any help much appreciated

Well who ever told you that you need to lower the compression for throttle bodies clearly does not know what they are talking about..

    Now I seem stupid

So there is no need to lower the compression?
Also if I where to put some cams in aswell would that make any difference to what engine internals I would need

Speak to Gav, sophia-bush on here

Sophia bush iirc will sort you out with a manifold for throttle bodies.

In fact he can do the full shebang for you.

It depends on what cams you go for but if you go for say catcams 743's then all you need to do is have the ecu mapped for them to run spot on but in saying that there is a few who have run them without a remap, same with the 708's.

I personally wouldn't run the risk as the engine will run lean whilst higher up the rev range and at wot.

Sandy Brown or Colin Satchell are the men to talk to if you want a GSXR TB kit on your VTS, don't forget the ECU/management side of things though... (£££)

Gsxr and Yammy bodies seem common I've been looking at various boddies setup and was thinking of a predator ecu

    Na they're fine.

GSX R TB's are more popular/better catered for...

so after a day in the garage we have come to the conclusion the s engine i bought is shagged

i would rebuild but thats not the point i thought i bought a fully working engine i have spoken to the breakers who i bought it off and they will refund me but i have already ordered some gsxr1000 boddies now im unsure weather to put these on my vtr engine or is it not worth it without getting another vts engine

just get another vts engine. im looking at doing cams and getting jenveys put on mine unless I turbo myself. if you do bodies and cams, defo vts engine all the way, it is worth getting a new ecu also
