Breaks bled right?

Ok so yesterday I swapped my 266m brakes for 283m setup off a 306 gti-6. Now I've never bled brakes before, so I'm not 100% sure I did it right. Now the brake feel seems worse, I have to push further for anything to happen, and when it does it doesn't seem as effective as the 266s. Don't get me wrong, the car still stops well, however under really hard breaking the passenger side rear tries to overtake me.

Does it sound like the brakes need rebleeding or is it just due to standard size master cylinder?

Adjust the rear compensator valve and bleed it again. Sounds like there is still air in the system too to me. I know others don't recommend them but I've always favoured the easy bleed kits takes the hassle out of it

Should there be a noticeably better brake effect from 283s even on standard mc then?

Doesn't sound like you've got all the air out to me? Is the peddle firm though? Try adjusting the brake bar in the engine bay if the biting point of the brakes is super low on the pedal

I'm sure I've read somewhere that if you fit this setup with the std m/c it will feel shite........nothing nothing nothing and then holy fuck, bites like fuck!!

Well I think that's how it was put

So I'd try bleeding a bit more to see if you can get it any better and if not go the larger m/c route.

Peddle has a good feel, can barely push it all the way to the bottom. Just doesn't seem to do so much on the way!

What models is the larger cylinder off? Is it '406 brake master cylinder 4 port non abs'?

The smaller mc moves less fluid to push the piston out

Better off swapping for a 23mm item

(I have a two port for sale off a406 v6)

Not sure mate but buy the twin port as above

You need to make sure you replace like for like on the mc.

As in the same number of outlets, will be either two or four

Ok cheers guys. Going to give the brakes a good bled (once I remove the sheared nipple...ahem) and see how it feels then.
