annoying temperature light

alright guys, just having an issue with my temp warning light coming on

temperature gauge never goes over the half way mark and I've flushed the system and the light still comes on sometimes, not always though but if i take her down the bypass and after a minute or two it may come on. i checked all the hoses and they aren't anywhere near scalding hot after a good run.

it's not even getting near worrying pressure either as i took a towel and slowly undid the cap but only a slight bit of pressure was released.

also bled the air out but still the same , is this something to worry about or should i just ignore it, just checking if anyone has had a similar issue.

here is a pic of the situation: http://prntscr.com/2bykii

    Faulty temp sensor maybe?

hmm thought it would be that but would my gauge still be working correctly if it was? the lights only started coming on in the last two days but the needle still behaves exactly how its always done, slowly goes up to half and stays there

For the cost of a sensor(around £15-£17)its worth replacing mate.

A sensor can get erratic sometimes, just get it changed. Worth doing it, as if the car senses overheating, the fan kicks in and overcools the engine. Result is the engine can't get up to temperature and mpg gets worse.

It happens, as a matter of fact I had to change mine recently, the car was running like a potato simply because the engine then couldnt get up to regular temp as the fan was constantly on. The heater was way off too, despite that the needle was working properly while I got a fault code showing through. New sensor and 2 minutes later and it was all sorted.

cheers i will get it changed, i just though it was odd that the car has absolutely no symptoms what-so-ever regarding the cooling system, and she runs perfect as well so just wondering if anything else could cause this light to go off like a dash fault or anything, only thing that made me think it wasn't the sensor is the gauge is perfect still, first things would be the sensor though like you say, cheers!
