Lowered Saxo steering rack arm hitting power steering pipe

  1. #1
I took my lowered phase 2 vts for tracking and they refused to do it because the o/s steering rack arm was hitting the power steering pipe coming out of the rack is there a mod or do I bend it until it misses ?
    Thanks

carefully bend it out the way

failing that, the mk1 pipe clears it upto about 80mm

Jack it up, place a socket between the arm and the pipe and SLOWLY lower it down

do this a little bit at a time till you have the desired clearence when the car is flat

Ive just recently done mine as the pipe split and ive got just over an inch from the rod to the pipe.

    yeah thats what i did^

although i put a bit of wood there as its a bit softer than a socket

Mine rubbed through and pissed fluid everywhere - the replacement I got was a redesign or different design (pump back to the rack flexible and solid one-piece) and without bending is a perfect non-rubbing fit on a lowered Saxo.

Sorry in advance that I don't know which model it came from but a scout through the breakers may find you the right one.

Or bend gently the old one - I did this but it still rubbed enough to wear through
