to colourcode or not

  1. #1
i was thinking about colourcoding my vtr but i dont know wether to do it posi blue or do them black. iam thinking about chaging the wheels soon if that would make any difference, it wont be the blue black thing anymore.
    what do you all think?

    heres the car

  2. #2
Not a fan of colour coded cars personally. If it was me I'd get them done in black.
  3. #3
thats what iam thinking more and more and it would be easyer for me to do myself then and not worrie about matching the colour up with the rest of the car.i just need to find some wheels that will go well with the car
  4. #4
VTS rims sprayed black or some black Speedline Turinis?
  5. #5
everyone has got vts wheels and they are getting a bit common now, speedlines would look good but they are a lot of money,i was thinking about 5 spoke wheels or ronal turbos, i had some 15"mutispoke wheels and they were a pain to keep clean.
  6. #6
I don't think Ronal turbos would suit your car. I'd keep the black theme going and get a set of Speedlines, they might be a bit expensive but they are worth it IMO.

i have had a few people tell me that,i was also thinking of some 17"tsw tornado's in black but i think they might look to big or would they look ok with standard bodywork?
  8. #8
how you do the white stuff on your tyres?? which tyres you got?? looks lush and where you get your front lights from!??

i got some white tyre pens from speeding.co.uk and coloured in the writing, the tyres are michelin pilot sx's and the front lights are standard one that i painted myself
  10. #10
Aye 17s would look OK with standard bodywork. I'd stick to 16s but it's all down to personal choice.
  11. #11
i wouldnt have to take the arch liners out for 16's would i,might be a better choice then.i and down 60mm so they would look pretty smart
  12. #12
    would these look ok?
and just to check they are the right fitment arnt they?

  13. #13
i have found a picture of them
  14. #14
Not a fan of them, but it's down to personal taste. Oz had the same set and they looked smart with the spokes painted anthracite.

  15. #15
    dont colour code

for me your car has too much clutter, reg plates with vtr, stickers on the back window and boot, badges on the back, writting on the wheel, back wiper

get them all removed and leave it!
  16. #16
i just want to do something different with the car
  17. #17
have to agree with Matt, less is more. however if you want to be different the way to go is down the euro route as there are very few euro style saxos around
  18. #18
what does that entail, its allready really low
  19. #19
Leave you car its perfect! looks real nice!!

8.5" wide 14's or 15's, like comp th's or some deep dish german wheels from www.dubmeister.co.uk with some 185's stretched over them, then some subtle smoothing/removal of unnecessary shite and job done. no airbrushed murals though
  21. #21
    like so :
  22. #22
so maybe some nice wheels, colourcode de wiper the back windscreen and take the spoiler off for starters and then after christmas mabee smothed boot.
if i decided to go with the de wiper and despoiler what should i do with the rear badges?
should i paint them silver for the ime being?
  23. #23
save up 200 and get your boot smoothed if you must

personally i have smoothed boots, just take of badges
  24. #24
actually the one in that pic is colour coded and i fucking love it lol
remove spoiler (leave it if it's a mk2 one), DO NOT SMOOTH BOOT, remove wiper, lose badges and bootlock, smooth aerial and rear washer jet, smooth front grill over or have a dimma grill smoothed in to the bonnet, then slam it.
  25. #25
thet car looks amazing it probably would cost that much eighter would it?
  26. #26
wheels are about 600-700 with tyres, then just need to slam it and take it from there, bit by bit
  27. #27
its aredy down 60mm all round, i cant relly go any lower as i strugle to get on the drive as it is
  28. #28
dont think you would have to go lower than 60 mm
  29. #29
mate, id leave the car as it is. everytime i see your car it looks good and theres not another one round this area that looks like it. My personal opinion would be colour code the lower splitter at the front and get rid of the white writing on the tyres and i think it would look great.
  30. #30
i wouldn't change the bump strips or the wheels mate it looks nice.

sort the numberplaes an sticker situ and it will be perfect imo.
  31. #31
what do you mean about the numberplates? i know what you mean about the stickers on the rear side windows i will have to get some more and fit them in a different place

The "vtr" logo on the side, just have the number on it, and nothng else (no borders or fancy fonts etc.)
  33. #33
oh ok i need some new ones anyway as the ones on the car have started to bubble a bit, someone posted a couple of sites to get new ones from so i will have to have a look
  34. #34
    code it.
  35. #35
the only thing that i would be worried about is the mirrors, obviously i would have to take them off the car but would i need to take them apart when if spray them?
  36. #36
I colour coded my car, it's exactly the same as yours (blue vtr). I left the mirrors on when I sprayed them, what I did though was take off the coloured bits of the mirror and fill the holes they left, then filled the indented bit of the mirror case and smoothed it. It's a bit of a nightmare smoothing them though because their rounded.

The bumpers were easy enough but took me ages. I smoothed them by hand with 400 wet n dry then 1500. Thought my hand was gonna fall off by the end of it. The side strips were quite easy as there's not much of a texture on them so I just smoothed with 1500.

Grill doesn't need smoothing as no texture.

Ohh and the front spoiler I just left the texture and sprayed as is as it's down low so doesn't really show anyway.

I'm well pleased with how it turned out but then I spray cars for a living so probably have an advantage over most people when it comes to that sort of thing.

Well saying that I've since put M3 style mirrors on as I wasn't that pleased with the job I did on the mirrors myself. I was going to re-do my mirrors but while I was down the scrappy picking up some clio door window seal bits (cause I had my windows tinted and it kept scratching) there was 2 practically brand new mirrors there which I got for £20.

I'm try to post some pics up some time.
