S1 106 Engine Mounts for a 16v

  1. #1
    Hi,

I'm after some clarification here hopefully. I have an S1 106 shell, the engine bay has an identical Driver Side Engine mount location as the picture below:

What sort of mount can I use to fit a 16v engine with this setup.

Some people are saying use an alloy XSi mount that's modified, some people are saying get the cradle from a VTS shell etc and weld that in to use the VTS mount.

Are there any aftermarket / uprated mounts or combo's that will simply let me use this mounting point with some sort of sexy mount. I can weld the bracket in if needs be but I'd rather keep it OEM and untouched if possible.

use what ever s1 mount the car would have had, that bolts on the chassis, and the arm that would have bolted to the block has to modified to fit around the 16v block.

alternatively get the late s1 style mount and weld it on, just provides a bit more support, its in the same place, but has a cradle for a buffer reducing front to back movement, although if you get uprated mounts one would argue that thats reduced anyway, also spooks sell billet s1 16v block mounts for 130 odd if you can be assed to modify the standard one
