Today when driving in town i noticed the battery light was on and i had no power steering. When i raised the revs above 2000rpm the light went out and the power steering worked again. Is my diagnosis of a knackered altenator right?

#3I wired up a cheap volt gauge in my car to keep an eye on readings as it had a few issues with charging. Only cost £5 and a few seconds to wire up. Free battery/alternator check is also worth while1 user thanked this post:

#5They are easy to pick up and fit, think you can check it by starting the engine and taking the earth off and using a multi metre check to see the correct votage1 user thanked this post:

#6Thanks. . . All sorted now. Turns out 1 of the pick ups in the volt regulator was all ground off.
