Squeak driving me mad

  1. #1
Under braking it seems my front drivers side (or possibly both sides) is making a horrible squeak, doesn't matter what speed i'm going it squeaks right down until around 10mph.

In the hunt to stop it I have changed both front discs, and all the pads.

It remained to squeak so I took the pads out and re-greased them thinking I may not have put enough on, and it's made no difference still squeaking horrendously.

    Any suggestions?

Same thing happened on mine and decided to cut a little groove in the pad to allow the dust to leave and it worked although I wouldnt go hacking at it just incase mine was a one off! Maybe someone can confirm what I did was kinda right haha...

You grease the back of the pads?
  4. #4
    Copper grease them
  5. #5
Yup they are fully greased up.

Does anyone have any other ideas, over a months of this constant squeak from my drivers side front break is doing my head in. Even does it in the wet

Could just bite the bullet and get new pads.

Maybe a very dusty brand of brake pads? What make are they?
  11. #11
I replaced the pads when the squeek first occurred and it did nothing to stop it
  12. #12
is it a constant noise upon braking?
  13. #13
    Brake cleaner?
  14. #14
Yes it is a constant noise under breaking, the whole way until about 15mph really.

    Yes tried brake cleaner.

    Any Ideas at all?

My process would be copper grease on the back of the pads, blow pads with air could be dust, check pads or discs
  17. #17
Could be oil getting in the disc from a leaking cv boot or something. Remember how your bike brakes used to squeal if you got some wd40 on them as a kid!

Copper ease all the moving parts and areas that the pad touches (other than the disk)

I've litrally copper greased everything up as suggested, the back of the pads and even some of the inside of the calliper. Hasn't stopped it, replaced the pads and discs up front to, still no change from the horrible squeeking

    I'm stumped then!

As am I! I've done everything possible to try and resolve it, next step is a new calliper, not that it should make any difference but it's worth a shot
