16v Conversion Question

  1. #1
This might be a stupid question but im planning on putting a vts engine in my X reg 1plug vtr but finding it hard to find a vts the same year so is there anything else involved when fitting a 3plug vts engine, loom, ecu, etc. to a older 1 plug vtr?

would i basically have to swap everything over , interior looms ignition etc?

    any advice would be appreciated

    Cheers

iirc x reg was the cross over so just make sure that the chassis plug is the same, thats the most important thing

i think tom5190 can change the plugs but its not ideal if its something you can avoid

ahh a see , might come to it as theres not many mk1 vts's about with low miles

so apart from the chassis and ecu plugs is there any other differences between the two?

    Cheers

sensor plugs, 1 or 2 lambdas, theres a few things but nothing really stopping you from puttin a late engine in an early car... ive got an early engine in my late car so entirely up to you

there is a thread on here about chassis plugs, theres 3 types...

    small
    large green internals
    large blue internals

all will become clear reading it, thats about it i spose

Its a lot easier to get a single plug than a 3 plug usually. have a read of this:

Strange I have an X reg and it's a three plug.

X reg is crossover some of them are 3 plug but still have an early chassis plug. pretty sure that's the most uncommon combination I've not seen too many.
