thermostat housing

   Changed the thermostat today was bolting it back on and I noticed that were you put the bolts in, at the back are 3 holes, I got a piece of rubber sticking out the end off one but the other two there's nothing in them? Should there be and what they for?

   As standard it has just one circular rubber gasket. Someone may at some stage in the cars life have added some additional sealant and it's just that. I wouldn't worry about it. Revisit the issue if you spring a leak obviously!
