Right,I've spent the last hour reading through other fuel gauge related issues on here and its rife with the saxo....holy fuck
Anyway,I've experienced an issue maybe two or three times since owning the saxo where the fuel gauge sticks at a certain level,on the odd occasion the speedo and rev counter can stick, but on one occasion the speedo and rev counter worked fine and it was the fuel light which gave it away.
The light came on when there was just under half a tank and I knew then it was at it again,so I did the usual and disconnected the battery.......problem solved.
But I now think there is a new problem.....
I had the fuel level at just over the half when I decided to fill right up.I filled up until the fuel nozzle shut off and when I got in the car to drive off I noticed the gauge was at roughly 3/4.....maybe slightly above
My initial thought was WTF
But then I thought maybe theres an issue where it doesn't register any higher and when the level drops to actually that level,it will start dropping with it.The fuel gauge needle still drops to zero when the ignition is off,so unlike the other issue its different in that sense.
Now I'm hoping its as above, and if it is....what would it be?could it be the sender is starting to fail in such a way that it won't register a level above the 3/4 mark?I'm not sure if this is relevant or not but I've never had the fuel level above 3/4 on the saxo since owning it.........so its maybe been this way for a while.
Or it may be that it sticks at the 3/4 mark but I won't know until I do a bit more miles......
I've read up about doing that earth wire trick but if it does what I'm hoping it will do then I can live with that......and if its a goosed sender then I'll happily replace that.
Any thoughts
