    Hi every body

    Here I am back after 8months with another problem .......
    Ok we drove to Cornwall Xmas time didn't notice any problems on are way back after a 5 hour drive I notice going over bumps bumps there was knocking behind my dash board
    Now check this today I had a bad feeling so I got tools ou jack my Motor up started within passenger side as I took the wheel complete, off I could not be leave my brake Caliper had one bolt missing and one bolt left in at 4 turns it came out in my hand it came off shocking I was on the dual carriage hour before sitting at 80 mph I'm shocked I could of been dead !!!!
    Now then I've put a new bolt in so all good .
    Back to knocking sound behind dash I took piper cross air filter an notice the steering rack gaiter has completely fucked mind my French now theres no play what's so ever .in rack but the sound comes from there when shaking the steering you can hear it ......
    Now if this steering rack has gone dry can I rear grease it with a new gater and knocking will go? has any one fix this .some 1 told me put a washer under the centre bolt on steering rack this stops it knocking ( have not tried this as yet ) check lower arms both are split and passenger drop link has split (top and bottom ) coud these be answer to to knocking an how does this knocking start with the rubbers all split sometimes when I go over speed bumps a bad bang clunk notice sound from centre of car guys I've been on here for time now please get your forts inn motor is 60 all round

    Have you checked for broken springs as well. Sometimes they can clunk when steering. Also check your dust ball joints for damage.

    just so you know in the future, bumping threads on saturday evenings/sunday mornings in here has little effect I'm afraid.

    Cheers lads for the comments I've notice the drop links are all split on passengers side and both lower arms are would this course the knocking. Behind the dash .and just ths moment now my ARB CLUNKING I'VE PUT THE BOLT BACK IN THE ARB PASSANGER SIDE BECAUSE IT WAS MISSING NO CLUNK BEFORE WITH NO BOLT IN HOLE NOW WITH BOLT IN HOLE THE CLNKING IS COMMING FROM THE REAR MY DAYS SAXO ARE A HAND FULL AT TIMES

    The clunk from the front is around about 25 35 mph coming from centre of dash area at the front

    As for the rear arb the bolt was missing I put a new in and now I get clunking from beam when turn in to drive its strange with no bolt there was noise and with the bolt put in there is any answers

    All fix now steering rack was fine it's was the drop links . So for any one out there check every thing 1st even tho no rips in site change the drop links
