#2your taking engine out but leaving the g/box in there?
-
#3Yeah gearbox is remaining in the car im just replacing the engine for a new one.
-
#4Starter needs to come off.
-
#5stater motor is removed
-
#6sounds like a lot more effort to leave the box in.
4 x 8mm alan bolts for bell housing
3 x starter bolts
all wiring disconnected
Ecu out
Rear driveshaft housing
Will need to drop the box onto a jack iimagine to fit the clutch past bell housing -
#7I found it easier to drop it all out as a oner, then replace it the same way. Leaving the gearbox in and lining up the shaft with a heavy engine will be a bit of a ball ache.
-
#8to remove the gearbox i need to remove the shafts?
-
#9Yea you need to remove the shafts to remove the box.
-
#10That seems hassle not enough room in the garage to drop the wheels off etc thats why i was remove the engine? but to drop the gearbox i need to remove theshafts too?
-
#11Really to remove the engine if your in a garage without decent lifting equiptment or ramps you should (roughly):
Remove wheels
Remove bottom ball joints from struts
Remove drive shafts
Remove battery & tray
Remove air filter & pipes
Disconnect all chassis loom plug
Disconnect starter & live/earth wires
Drain coolant
Disconnect coolant hoses from rad
Remove bottom engine mount
Support engine
Remove both top engine mounts
drop the engine onto the floor
Lift the car and drag the engine out -
#12I have an engine lift.
-
#13I don't think you can even move the engine far enough to the left to disengage the input shaft, I've never seen one done like that with leaving the box in. I'll be surprised if it comes out in all honesty
-
#14Ok i'll take the box out took
-
#15You don't need to take the box off the engine to remove it. You just remove the both of them as one. You can get it out from the top too if you tilt it an a mad angle.
If your stuck for space it might be easier for you to pull the front bumper, headlights, rad and slam panel off to pull it out from the front. -
#16This is hassle lol! never mind! shit happens!
-
#17It'll be easier in the long run, I think if you try it your way you'll wasting time and end up having to do it the way mentioned above.

#18removing the box as one is easier. As said...
