Starting issue, immobiliser / battery / clicking noise

    Hi,

I have looked through previous posts and they have been helpful but nobody seems to have had the same combination of faults.

I have a 1.1 desire, has started on the key perfectly for 4 years. I drive it to work every day.

But this morning it wouldn't start at all, didn't turn over. Seemed like a flat battery, lights worked but the electric windows were a bit slow. When turning the key all I could here was a loud clicking noise? I presumed starter motor.

Borrowed a mates jumper kit and fired up, not as fast as a fully charged battery but it turned on the first crank.

I have driven it this evening since and its fine on and off but it has the immobiliser light on?

I did hit a kerb the other day and it has been very cold over night. I can't make out whats at fault? The battery is about 3 years old.

    Anyone got any ideas?

sounds like you need a new battery, even with jumper cables sometimes they wont transfer enough amps, pretty sure this is what you need as i had a similar problem and spent ages messing about with jumper leads and charging the battery up but i got a cheap battery from my local car supplier just to rule out a dead battery. it was only around £25. cracked up first time and its a very decent one considering the money i paid.

Last couple I have got is from ebay about half he price of halfrauds and local motor part providers

Had clicking on my build when battery was very flat so sounds like the cause of your problem.
