Leaky sunroof/aerial

  1. #1
I've done a search but I'm needing more advise to help me make a decision.

There was some water coming from the interior light and immediately I thought of the aerial as I replaced that last year.

But after removing the interior light and the trim that holds the sunroof winder it seems the water may be coming from the sunroof as well.

Is it more than likely that the drain for the sunroof has blocked?as visually the seal looks good?

Or do I seal the fucker?ive never used it and its main use will be track, but I'm thinking about resale if I do punt it

As for the aerial I'll remove that, apply some sealant and refit.

What's the best sealant to use,I'm not sure if I'll have any at work so I'll need to go buy some.

    Cheers

Buy some fablon from B&Q and stick it over the sunroof & onto the roof, job done.

i recently had a windscreen leak and sealed it twice with silicone sealant. Water kept finding its way through it. Used tiger seal now and it did the trick fine

Did you put any sealent under the aerial? If you bolted it straight in that could be the problem!

This happened to my saxo last year. I noticed water on the headlining etc. The drains can get blocked. Also sometimes water collects in the corners by the drain holes.

I took the whole sunroof out last year and built up the corners below the drain holes with silicone,so the water drains out properly and doesn't collect. then i put silicone on the black trim on the sunroof and placed it back on the car.

Touch wood i have had no more leaks since.

    Hope this helps.
there is a guide somewhere on this site.

Could also be corroded metal under the sunroof seal.

Does this all just pop off in one piece or do you have to remove the winder and that first?

You have to remove the winder first and then the other small cover as these hide the three fixing screws for the trim.

I'm now fairly confident the sunroof is ok and that its just the aerial which is leaking.

I'll get some tiger seal and get that done.
