Anybody used these tyres??

Group-buy going on at the moment with Yokohama which I've managed to jump on, bought myself 4 of these but can't find much more info on them than the link below.... There the oem tyre choice on lotus elise/exige also so it seems.

I already have a new set of toyo t1r's which I quite like on the road, I was going to use these as more of a summer/track tyre as they appear to be terrible in wet conditions.

Has anybody used them at all, as there aren't a deal of reviews online??

Yes. They're excellent. I don't get on with T1R's at all, A048's are in another league though, get some heat into them and they're really decent. I've driven on them in the wet at Knockhill, they were ok, I drove faster than I would do on the road and they seemed alright, I didn't disappear off anyway!

That's what i wanted to hear cheers mate. Will be the track wheel of choice i think, t1r's aren't too bad for road use but nothing special, thinking of upgrading to the R1R as they seem well rated but won't need to for a while thankfully.

Got them for a ridiculous price...

According some of my friends they are even better than Toyo R888. They have reputations of best semi-slicks avaible.

From personal experience, in the wet and dry they blow r888's out of the water.
Even is damp conditions they are incredible.
We did a track day at spa, and as you would expect it threw it down all day long. Even so the car felt as though it was glued to the track. I personally wouldn't use anything but ao48's. It was the medium compound we used as well.

Tl/dr I couldn't rate these tyres highly enough!!!!

I've driven on both and I'll be going with A048's. They're both good but I prefer the Yoko's.

In my experience the A048 is superior to 888's in both wet and dry but tbh the price they are now is getting daft. I've used both on different cars in different conditions on different tracks and the Yokos are unbelievable in all but deep standing water.

I used some Nankang NS2R's and in terms of bang for buck that's what I'll be using in future tbh. You could get a set of softs and mediums for the same price as one set of Yokos!

Just re read original post and having used the A048's on road too, they are shite in the wet. Only work in the wet on track when you get heat into them.

Sounds better than I expected, I grabbed them on a whim as Yoko are doing a group buy on MLR....

The mlr discount price of these is normally is £155+vat each I got them for £55+vat each with free delivery direct from yoko....

Wish i'd of got 8 tyres now instead of 4 but they have been going like hot cakes.

That has to be a typo!

    Damn it he runs 215/40's!

I'd buy as many as you can then whack'em on fleabay.

In the 7 years I've been buying them I've never seen any discount off them at all!

Does seem a bit too cheap...

No it's legit, I think it's because those tyres can't be used in the mlr sprint class a group but the others can. It's the true price as he even states in the thread a saving of £100. Might try get another 4 even though I'm trying to clear shed space!

Cleared Yoko's stock.... 160 tyres gone in a few hours.

Maximum order of 4 was set to spread the deal to as many members as possible and prevent people cashing in.

£260 for £750 worth of tyres though, can't grumble

    Silly cheap!
