HELP!!!! Car doesnt want to go when engines hot.

  1. #1
    Hello, I have a saxo mk1 1.4i WSX

    I've changed:
    spark plugs,
    coil pack,
    ht leads,
    crank sensor,
    fuel filter
    and air filter.

The problem is that when I put my foot flat on the accelerator and it goes up to 6000 revs and then dies. And when I'm driving normal it lasts until the engines hot and then it starts juddering and eventually dies. I've unplugged the MAP sensor which makes it stop dying as often but not that much .
Anyone that has any ideas please let me know ASAP.
    Thank You

From the inner wing? Its a standard air box if that's what you mean

I think it red lines in 7k and 8k revs

Are you sure you've got a rev counter fitted & not a clock saying 8pm?

Ill check tomorrow mate. I've took my battery off to try reset the ECU see if that helps

Just check. It goes up to 8k revs. I tightened the spark plugs because the garage only done them finger tight and cleaned the lamba sensor still no joy. Any Ideas?

8k? That must be one serious engine! If it revs to 8k and it's not running when warm you'll maybe want to look at your map and make sure the fueling is right for the temperature and isn't stuck running on the cold map

Well when I unplug the map sensor it runs abit better but still dies when it gets hot
  11. #11
That's because the ecu isn't giving the same air/fuel ratio when it's unplugged. What ecu are you running?
  12. #12
Measure the resistance from the coolant temp sensor when warm, this might be faulty. Does it smell like it's over fuelling?
  13. #13
I would be looking at the temp sensor as when the engine is cold more fuel goes in and then when the engine is warm your temp sensor will be telling the ecu that it's still cold do will still be putting more fuel in hence if you can smell fuel in the cab it will be over fuelling. Worth checking

I've changed the some temp sensor Think its the one you are on about. I changed the one on the gearbox side of the engine. It has a green plug.

Just tried cleaning the fuel pump. Now I feel high Just dunno what todo now
  16. #16
What ecu is it? Take it to the place you got it mapped and ask them to have a look
  17. #17
    I never had it mapped
  18. #18
But it must have been to run to 8k :s did the previous owner have it mapped?
  19. #19
Umm I dont know I think the revs bounce at 7k when it decides too get that high
  20. #20
Can't you speak to previous owner see if they had the standard ecu mapped?
Does the car have aftermarket cams or any performance parts, if not can't see why it would have been mapped.

I have found a temporary fix . So for anyone having this problem, take out the fuel pump and clean the bottom part that I think is some sort of filter but I am gunna have to buy a new one. But its running fine for the moment. Fingers crossed

Fingers crossed for you lol could be a cheap fix
