Important! : Warning light on dash

  1. #1
I'm currently driving my wife's 1.4 mk1 Saxo, and a warning light (to the left of the clocks) has lit up on red. I assume its water level, but the car seems to have enough water, the fan hasn't kicked in and doesn't seem overly hot, but as there is no temp gauge it's a little hard to know for sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated :-) as I'm am now at work, and kinda need it later to get home.
NB the car hasn't moved since mid nov, if that makes any difference

Cheers fella, I followed the guide, the light did come on again while bleeding, but the water in it was warm, not boiling. I'm hoping it'll be ok to get me home later.
It almost seems like a blockage of some sort

you have to do it with the engine warm and running, watch out not to burn yourself. It may need a few gos at it before the temp light goes back to normal. Had this when I bought mine and I stopped a few times to bleed on my way back. After 5-6 consecutive bleedings I never had that problem again.

extra tip: park on a slope if you can. That will force the bubbles towards the bleeding nipple. Bleed, rinse, repeat if needed.

Funny thing is, the car doesn't seem hot at all, no loss of performance or cutting out. But yet the light comes on after only a couple of miles and stats on until cool. I really need someone who knows what they're doing to come and help me, I'm not mechanicly minded, computers I can do :-)
