Ecu issues!

right basically did a quiky to vtr conversion on my mates car today, everything was all good and it started up first turn of the key ,
Right but the thing is the car had a hawk alarm system ( I know nothing about alarms! )
And it also hasn't/hadn't got the imbob box plugged in to start off with!

Right so anyway started it up, turned it back off , ten came back to starting up and it would just crank over, so after fucking about for abit traced it back to ye ecu locking its self, no spark etc
So as it was running on old ecu with no imob box?
Plugged that in and it started fine/and runs fine (for a 1.4 ecu)

So my question is , could this alarm system lock the vtr ecu! But I dot want to go fitting another to it for it just to do the same!
    Cheers!

It wont be locking the ecu it will be blocking the signal from the ecu. Best bet is to get rid of it.

Hawk alarms are budget shit anyways. If you have any problems give Mr toad a call, Ian is a good bloke based in Leeds and has got me out of the shit A LOT!! he knows alarms like you know your partners ball sack,

Right I see! But thing is, under the glove box is te control unit thing for the alar system, unplugged it all an completely romved it, but still wouldn't start on the vtr ecu, but runs with te original 1.4 ecu!

Could the vtr ECU be locked from the beginning?

No no I unlocked it when taking the vtr engine out of the donor car, and when it came to starting it started a couple of times and ran fine on the vtr ecu! Then came to starting it 3rd time and it was dead!

The ECU's can lock themselves when not unlocked correctly, a mate had this in his GTI conversion ran fine in a rallye, and wouldn't work in his quicksilver another unlocked ECU solved this.

As you've proved it's not wiring, and that it runs on the 1.4 ecu I would borrow an unlocked ECU off someone or buy an unlocked ECU that is correctly unlocked.
