Airbag light Q

  1. #1
As per usual I've left it to the last minute to do this, the car is booked in for its mot tomorrow so I tried to solve the airbag light issue by fitting resistors.

    But to no avail

Before I fitted the resistors the airbag light was flashing all the time, but after fitting the resistors the light is now on constantly

    What's the difference?

can just take clocks etc out and tape it

Resistors worked fine on mine, what ones did you get?

Problem is if the light doesn't come on and go out as it should then that is a fail, well apparently it is these days.

It depends on the tester as well, there's two guys at this place and one is quite lenient and the other is strict so its a hit or miss.

I think it was the 2.2ohms resistors form maplin,I read on here that some people used 3ohms as the 2.2ohms didn't work so it may have been the 3ohms but I can't remember.

I also managed to drop two of the feckers down behind the steering column and I can't find them now.......everything is against me just now

Its not. If the light is on it = fail
if the light is off = pass

IT DOES NOT HAVE TO ILLUMINATE THEN GO OUT like an ABS light

People say this all the time and its not true. On-fail off-pass.

    Pull the bulb out

I can't be fucked going back out

I'll go have a quick read and see how easy it is to do.

I used m2r2 resistors if that helps? Might mean 2.2 ohms, in my airbag pretensioners but I guess steering wheel is the same.
Just take the bulb out or tape over it for now like said above loads do it on here and its fine

Yeah I'm fairly confident that's the ones I bought,I seen that on here then went and ordered them on maplin.

I kinda bodied them in,then attached the battery back up and tried the ignition and they light was still flashing.

So I tried them again and this time the light was on constant,no flashing.

It may be that they're still not fitted very well but I don't have the best tools at hand.

I think I'll go out and remove the bulbs.

Another option is a 5 amp fuse, then crimp on two spade connectors to air bag wires then insert the fuse into the spade connectors.

Id say take the light out or tape it until youve passed the mot and then try out different methods like the one stevo mentioned
