idle control valve??

    hey guys, my car has been idling a little randomly recently. i was sitting in my car with the engine on, idling around 1000 and then it started revving up to around 1200-1300 for a couple of seconds and then the engine stalled itself. my first thought is the idle control valve but i thought i would check with you lot for past experiences and if anything else could cause this to happen?

    i have noticed its slight idling problems before but it has never stalled on me until a couple of days ago.

    Have a quick check on your battery just in case. Should be 12.2v and 14.4 with the engine running.

    I had the same issue a while ago, turned out to be a vacuum leak. Run the engine and you will probably hear a hissing noise. I found mine by spraying carb cleaner over all the vacuum lines when the engine rev's change it means you just sprayed over a leak (careful though, do it on a cold engine and keep a fire extinguisher handy). Find the leak, change the pipe and all sorted.
