Hi all, me again! Just wondering if anyone has sprayed their car before? If so what's the best paint they would recommend?!
Re-spray

#2I recommend getting a professional to do it or it will more than likely look awful.
-
#4Give it to a pro,you are looking at around £2k for a good job though.
-
#5I painted mine for £35.
Looked fucking awesome but it was a matte colour and I already had the compressor and booth. Pay a pro. -
#6Holdawayt cheers for the info, I'm looking at spraying mine a standard white, I have compressor, bay and gun, just wondering on best make paint iv been told 2 PAC? .. I am rebuilding this car on myself and don't want to give it to any pros , this is a project and I will learn from it

#7white = instant fail if you dont even know what paint you want.Quote:Holdawayt cheers for the info, I'm looking at spraying mine a standard white, I have compressor, bay and gun, just wondering on best make paint iv been told 2 PAC? .. you paint white blind as you cant see a wet edge,
But the paint you want is ICI Turbo 2k with a fast hardener and 10% slow thinners for white.
You want to be spraying at 1.5 to 2 bar at a distance of 7 inch and a flash off of 20 mins, if you cant give the car a full wet coat in 20 mins then dont bother white is unforgiving. -
#8cheers for the info, think il give white a miss then!! not looking foward to that, il go with my original colour. of black with white buckets and alloys.
cheers! -
#9Have you thought about getting someone to wrap it? Won't be as good but will be a hell of a lot cheaper
-
#10muel, that was my back up idea how hard isit to do anyway? seen some videos on how to do it but looks SOLID... the good thing about painting it myself, i already have the compressor gun and a booth. wereas if i wrap it i need heat gun ect ect... hmmm dicsions

#11I have no idea, I just know its cheaper than spraying!Quote:muel, that was my back up idea how hard isit to do anyway? seen some videos on how to do it but looks SOLID... the good thing about painting it myself, i already have the compressor gun and a booth. wereas if i wrap it i need heat gun ect ect... hmmm dicsions
To be honest despite what everyone has said, if you have the gun and booth, and you aren't expecting an amazing finish, I'd just give it a go.
Are you just spraying your Saxo? If it is its not like the car is ruined if it turns out crap, you can always re-prep and start again. Plus you've got to start somewhere.
Back to wrapping, I'd get a company to do it - I can imagine its a bitch to apply without getting bubbles under it. -
#12i guess to save a ton of money you could try do it yourself then if it looks shit just get it done professionally.

#14Muel, you're thinking on my lines... It's a learning curve... Iv sprayed other things before just never a car.... Cheers for the info bud
-
#15Ash, that's also what I'm thinking... Will give it a go, it can't be that hard I'm sure
-
#16You have a gun, a compressor and a booth and you're worrying about not having a hot air gun...
