Failing Emissions

    (TLR Burning Oil, need cheap quick fix)

    Failed twice now but getting better, first time I failed on everything (cold engine)This time I made sure the engine was hot but I failed bad on CO the limit is 0.5% and I was over 1% on both idle and fast idle.

    The exhaust smoke is light blue at all times so I know I'm burning oil but the problem is what is the quick (cheap) fix. I need this car for another 2 months but the MOT (APK over here) expires at the end of the month.

    I'm hoping its the emission control system on the car as it is hooked up wrong (bought it this way and didn't notice) it should be connected from the back of the intake manifold to but it is connected at the front (pics below, right engine wrong car. The hose at the back of the intake where it is supposed to be connected has be blocked with a bolt and glue. The question is could this be the cause of the oil in the system? I know it probably going to be piston rings or valve seals but I haven't got anything here to check it.

    Let me guess, it blows a cloud of blue smoke when started from cold, and then continues to haze a little blue smoke, which gets worse under hard acceleration? If so, dead/dying stem seals.

    Unfortunately there is no "quick fix" that will get it through emissions if its got that bad. Solution is to change the stem seals (can't be done without removing the head unfortunately. Not without a lot of mucking around anyway). Alternative is to chuck another engine in it, which is what I will be doing with my Saxo.

    Actually when it starts (from Cold) it just blows a little white smoke after about 30min it turns to light blue with a bit of grey. During acceleration there is almost no smoke.

    I have found a way to pass the emissions, (wink, wink) now i just need to car to stay together for a couple of months.

    Took another look at the car. Where is the PCV valve? the crank case is vented straight into the airbox and the intake manifold, Is it supposed to be like this?
