Much prefered be to ma for working on in every way. Depends on how brave you are working on gearboxes.

Well i need to send the casing off to be machined. If its a case of unbolt and lift off then thats fine, i just dont want to have to say remove 5th to be able to remove it as thats out of my depth. Are there any guides?

Just unbolts if you mean the steel bit, if its the main middle casing then its a bit more involved, 5th has to come off for which you will need a 28mm 12 sided socket and a punch or two.

Why do you need to mod the casing? Satchell mounts need no casing mods.

    Not satchell.

Need it cutting down for the spoox mounts

May just take it to a gearbox specialist

So you're weakening the box by having it machined down just to make the engine level? Don't you think you're going a bit far?

The bottom line is even on the piss it's not the end of the world...

Well did you run yours on the piss?

And if so which ecu side mount did you run?

Yes mate. I ran my 283hp, 338hp and 403hp setup all on the piss. I'm only redoing it now for aesthetics really.

I used a vibratechnics mount ecu side.

Will try flog the alky and buy a vibra one again. Darnit.

Will get a baffled sump from constella to keep it on the safe side

5th has to be taken off, with the syncro. Getting apart is easy, remember to refit the plastic oil guide for 5th when you put it back together

I think im going to go down to the scrap yard one day when i have some spare cash and buy a box that i can strip in my spare time. ill strip 5th off a few times and refit to get used to it then remove all the gears.

No doubt ill have to learn how to replace 3rd gear anyway since every time it gets ripped to bits i dont fancy paying over the odds for a gear specialist to do it.

will probably bug you for some info when it nearer the time

    Oh and btw martin right?

I have Ians old AX setup. shafts and box ect.. as you know.

and i had jordons old 106 setup. shafts and box. i sold the box and shafts to a guy with an AX.

He has come back saying that the track width is different for the AX, the shafts dont fit his car.

Does this mean that my shafts that came off Ians AX wont fit the 106...

Or did ians have 106 struts ect..?

    *Crosses fingers*

An ax and 106 are the same so either he isnt fitting it right or his car is bent
