How do I test the cooling fan?

    Years ago I had an XR2i, and to test the fan you could bridge a connection and the fan woukd kick in............ how do I test the fan on a MK1 Saxo?

    start the engine, leave idle until it kicks in.

    Or unplug the fan thermoswitch and bridge the contacts, if thay works, then run it up to temperature.

    Is that the connector on the thermo housing or to the left of the rad?

    I had a quick look and have removed the connector, only to find it has 3 pins, 2 are the same colour, am I right in thinking that its a 2 speed setup, so the 2 identical colour pins are lives? And the other is earth?

    again: start the engine and leave idle until the fan kicks in. No need for all that rewiring shenanigans.

    It hasn't kicked in since I bought it, that's the point, I'm trying to work out if its faulty or not
