Head gasket has blown again. Normal symptoms: misfiring, white smoke, oil in coolant and water in oil
what is the cheapest option I've got to fix it. New gasket and head skim etc. vts engine conversion or new car. Also how many times can a saxo head be skimmed
Furio head gasket

#2Mines just done the same, costing me £400 that's with a head skim included.
-
#3Is that with labour. I will do it myself so will work out cheaper
-
#5Hopefully its just the gasket that needs changing. It was a recon head when i put it on so probably wont be able to skim it again. Luckily i have a straight edge to check if the head is warped or not
fingers crossed its not

#6How has it blown again? Headgasket is meant to last the life of the engine of corse they dont but should 'only' need doing once.
I would and did it on my old Vts first time I ever done it was easy lock the car at Tdc with the flywheel and rest is just unbolt and bolt up. -
#7im not too sure why it has gone again, i did it august 2012 and got the problem again. Bit strange when everything was new and head was reconditioned. Unless the block is damaged. yeah they are pretty simple to do just a bloody pain
-
#8Well did you freeze it and over heat? No way it would blow in such a short time unless head wernt skimmed right.
-
#9What do you mean freeze it? And no it didn't overheat. Yeah maybe I'll whip the head off and check to see if it's warped or not

#10Ok so I drove my car. Engine management light was flashing and car was misfiring and had no power. I turned it off, about half hour later went back to it and it was fine as if nothing had happened. Checked my oil cap, there was foam, but not on dipstick. Checked my coolant and it looked like sludge but when I drained a bit out, it was red. My coolant and antifreeze I use is red. Does this now seem like head gasket?
-
#11I also put my code reader in and it was giving me the code p0300 and p0136
-
#12It will misfire if the head gasket has gone, mine did and coughed out plumes of white smoke.
-
#13There will be immense pressure behind the antifreeze too if the engine is warm, undo the cap and try to hold on to it!
