#2You can't polish your car, it won't shine.. He needs to do a good job on the whole car to make it look decent..
-
#3He said he can do my Saxo and wheels for 300? That seem a good price?
-
#4It's a decent price.. Just tell him you're not paying if he does a shit job.. Car will need a really good clean, and stripping of any polish 1st.. Totally degreased, and then he will have to get a good even coat on the spray, otherwise it looks blotchy

#5I think if it were me and I wanted a cheap colour change I'd go with the vinyl wrap.
A LOT tougher and will look a million times better if done correctly. -
#6ask jage
he got his plastidipped brown. Did it himself and looks brilliant -
#7Plasti dip is shit simple as.1 user thanked this post:

#10okay point taken, sorry I'm not all clues up hence why I'm asking about itQuote:the fact that a stone chip will get water ingress within a week or the fact you get blooming of the plasti dip when it comes in contact with salt water?
does put me in 2 minds as id be pissed to spend 300 then a week later have it off due to water damage etc
-
#12wouldnt you be better off wrapping it then?
-
#13I'm with Bedford again on this one, every plastidip job I've seen looks cheap and nasty

#14Come look at mine before i peel it off, i have a few stone chips on mine and the water has not affected it in any way, i thought the water would get under it and peel it but nope there is literally just a nick with no peeling around it. It is also very hard to stone chip as its rubber. And my car has been in contact with floods and salted roads and still looks as good as the day i did it. The only thing to be wary of is what sealants you use on it afterwards as some of them affect it.
A good vinyl wrap is as much as paint youre better off with a respray in my opinion.
Oh and with vinyl water can ruin those finishes if you get a stone chip but you have to get the whole panel rewrapped if you do whereas with plastidip you can spray a dot and blend it by spraying thinners on it!
Just my experiences

#15gage can you pm me pictures of your car please.

#16u can by glossifier for plasti dip to gloss it but think it would be more hassle than its worth.i do vinyls for a living and depending on the finish this has its flaws aswell.u can put defendall on the areas that are prone to stone chipping its pretty much a thick laminate.BMW supply this on their X5s.iv wrapped a few cars and had no problems with water or stone chipping just depends on personal preferance really.

#17We use plastidip at work to cover the back of moulds of any sharp edges it peels off like PVA glue on your fingers very rubery and wouldn't dream of painting a car in it. Lots of solvents used in it and I dread to think what it will do to the paintwork underneath.
