Kent Fast Road Sports Cams fitted! no increase?

  1. #1
    hi guys,

just had a pair of Kent Fast road cams fitted 2 my vts. i feel no increase in power.... and keep gettin blown off by a vts thats only been chipped with an exhaust and induction kit.

    heres my Spec:

Gas flowed port n polished Head.
    Kent Fast road Sports Cams
    GMC 4-1 Manifold
    Magnex Decat
    Powerflow midsection straight through
    Piper 4" slashcut bkbox
    ECU - Remapped
    Pipercross Viper

The cams were fitted at reputable company who specialise in saxos ( ABP Motorsport in shavington Crewe)

Also if i boot the car when racing sumone and then slow down the engine starts 2 tap alot as ive it has a dry tapet!? is this because of a much higher Cam lift?

ur views wud be much appreciated.... and how 2 solve the problem 2, i plan to ring ABP tomorrow....

    Cheers Craig

yeah have heard this before about kent cams, they are renouned for being crappy cams. if your gonna buy cams go for piper mate, they are great value for money!

its all down to the driver

    who re mapped it

    1. Piper and Kent are the same company and their cam profiles are very similar.

    2. You will get a circa 1bhp gain from a set of PT51s unless you map the ECU correctly. www.chipwizards.co.uk is close to you and absolutely superb. Phone Wayne for a quote on it, tell him I sent you.

wont the cams have increased the top end? therefore off the line starts will be slower initally then once the car is moving and the gears land in the stronger torque band it'll get moving fairly rapidly

Yup, once its been mapped. It'll just over fuel bottom end now and run too lean at the top

    got ya

except i thought that was what the cam was suppose to do... as in optimise the timings of and increase the opening of the valves??? thus increase fuel???

    im just learning here

Sort of. The cam can only work though if the ECU is setup to bung more fuel in at the top end though.

what kent cams did you get pt50s? pt51s?

    where was your ecu mapped?
  12. #12
was just gonna ask the same, so which cams do you have and where did you remap it, ill add williams defiantly wants to know where it was remapped.lol

lol, i wont be going there though. i think i will just be going to chipwizards as i already have a mappped ecu by them, its in on the 29th

your cam timing need toi be spot on aswell, is your RPM limit raised?

need to know what cam you went for first mate, if it was pt50 and reprofiled then you wouldnt get a gain, it just shifts the power band, pt51s you should if setup correctly.

a cam changes when, howlong and how much a valve opens, the longer its open the more air you can get in but has to be matched with fuel, induction kit and exhaust, its best to choose your cam then design everything around that, rather than get everything else and a cam as they always tend to get it wrong

    ^ Agree.

Its also best to match the headwork to the cam profile too I'm told on good authority
