306 Gti-6 brakes questions?????

  1. #1
Just a quick questions, id be grateful for some help.

I've sourced a pair of calipers and a set of pagid discs already, my queries are when fitting are the saxo hoses long enough? I've no issue with replacing them but I'd like to be prepared so I can get the job done in one day.
My other question is regarding pads, I've searched and found a lot of recommendations but I'd like an idea related to how I'm using the car.
Basically it's a "track only" car and at my first trackday a few weeks ago I finished the day with horrifically warped discs. They were brand new pagid items (they had been bedded in), I had no issues with brake fade just the shake.
What suggestions has anyone got to try and prevent this?

    Cheers

Track only pads speak to KAM racing about some CL5+ or CL6 pads.

Hoses on gti6 calipers are fine - but you'll benefit from changing to braided so might as well do it.
Could also consider changing to a 23mm master cylinder too whilst you're there. Better pedal feel.

Cheers for the reply, I'll give KAM a buzz.
I've got braided lines already so it's a bonus I don't have to change them.
What is the 23mm master cylinder off? For ease of sourcing

Gti6 / some 406's. You want one that matches yours for number of ports - 2 for abs or 4 for non-abs

    All 406's used a 23.8mm mc.

Not a must fit tbh, youll have a longer pedal withoit but higher brake pressure.

Just a quick note, not quite as simple as just buying a 23mm master cyl from a pug/cit which matches your ports, some of the mounting holes are offset and some are level.
I was never told this when i was looking for one couple of years ago so one arrived and if fitted the reservoir would have been sat at a 45 degree angle. - Obviously not too good.

planning on fitting gti-6 brakes to my vtr but am I right in saying that I would need to order braided gti-6 hoses rather than saxo ones or will they both fit regardless?
just checking before I order them.

Saxo ones will be fine just some people like to have custom ones that are a little longer.

No you will find that the gti6 ones are too long and the standard Saxo ones can be a touch short.

The Gti-6 ones arent to long if you clip them to the inner wing

tried to fit my 283mm brake kit tonight but the caliper mounting bolts wont line up
do I need to take a bit off the caliper or better to take a bit off the hub carrier as this is wat is stopping it
    any advice?

    Cheers

Either or depends which you feel more comfortable trimming .

    I'd go for the strut

that's what I was going to go for the strut as I didn't want to trim it on the caliper side just incase it weakens the caliper carrier, can trimming the strut affect it in anyway?

Not by the amount you need to grind off for it to clear.
