Alloy Refurb

  1. #1
I picked up some VTR alloys off ebay for £60 and the kerbing and blistering on them is quite bad. Ive had a quote of £100 to completely refurbish them and paint them all black, I would look at doing them myself but the mainly damaged part of the is the rim which would catch the kerb first and a couple are pretty beat up.
Is £100 a good price for what ive been offered? Or would anyone in the Midlands be able to do them any cheaper?

That seems a fairly reasonable price but depends on quality, if their previous work seems decent i'd go for it.

Personally I wouldn't bother doing them myself for the sake of £100 due to the time involved in prep alone.

Are the painting them or powder-coating?

If powercoating then its an excellent price, considering they'll need to remove the tyre, coat them, refit tyres, then rebalance them without rim weights.

If its painting just do it yourself as the finish will be crap anyway.

I'd of bought vts wheels better than these ones.

Yes they will be painted rather than powder coated

I'd have a crack at them yourself... Will cost you about £30 for paint and prep materials.
Save yourself some money as they dont look too bad IMO.
