De-Cating a VTS

  1. #1
Hey, had a search on the forum but not really found what im looking for. Basically im looking at doing a de-cat on my VTS. Its the one that has the cat under the floor, not in the manifold. Basically is it worth it performance wise? Im not looking to put mega bucks into my engine, cams, ecu etc because I need to keep it driveable as its my everyday car and I spend most of it on the motorway so im just looking for a little bit more power. But heres the catch, im wanting to keep the standard VTS backbox, im too old for noisy exhausts now and like I say I drive mostly motorway and having a banging exhaust related headache when I get to work every day isnt high on my want list.
    Opinions folks?

If that's the case then don't do it no will only sound louder and may even pop and bang so if you say what you have above forget about it.

Could always put some headphones on!

Saw a guy once in a mini on the m6 with airline pilot style head set for him and his mrs!

Back on topic - a decat only really makes a difference when accompanied with getting rid of the mid box along with a decent back box. No point otherwise IMO.

why do you want a decat? Its not going to free all that much power up if you compare it to the amount of noise deficit its going to create. If anything a 200 cell sports cat may be of benefit but the costs far outweigh any benefit if you ask me
