lambda problem?? help needed

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help.

I recently converted the vts to a mk1 oil filter set up so I could fit a mani. At the time the old lambda sensor was completely seized and was unable to remove it.

I used a lambda plug on the new mani and ran without the second lambda for around a month without no problems apart from the engine dash light.

The problem being is now that I have fitted a new precat lambda and sleeved the after cat one, the fuel consumption is now dreadful and the car seems to hit a flat spot between around 2500rpm and 3000.

The car also seems to idle rough and feels as if its down on power.

There are a few questions I need answered if any of you's can help.

    1. Do I need the lambda sensors?
    2. Could the lambda be for the wrong model? Although it did state it was for mk2 vts

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Problem seems to have been a faulty sensor. Removed lambda and was covered in soot. Think it has been seriously over fueling (35 mile to a tenner)

Donor lambda has rectified the problem atm and car is running fine.

40 quid down the drain though!!
