More like a 1.2 rather than a 1.6

Hi guys . Okay it's a saxo vtr 2001 on a 51 plate , a few weeks ago I changed the spark plugs then with in a few days the engine light come on and I had the car hooked up to diagnostics , and needed a new CAT so had it changed , the car used to have a little bit of a growl when putting my foot down even though the hole exhaust is standard and used to put me into my seat !
But now the car feels like It has no power , it will go up to a ton but not as quick as it used to . I've got a new k&n panel air filter on its way in case the old standard on is nackered but has any got any clues at what maybe causing the loss of power ?

    Cheers guys !

Used to put you into your seat...all that 1.6 power!!!! Haha, theyre quick little cars tbf but loss of power can be caused by many things really, worst of all would be head gasket is going...but could be the coil pack too seen as though you had that out to change the plugs, it might have just finished it off so to speak?
Replace coilpack, see what happens, also check for signs of head gasket going just to be sure

The noise from your exhaust was probably a blow in the cat

I changed my sparks for the first time of doing it myself the other week, didn't tighten then up properly, found that our a week later when it developed a misfire. Tightened the sparks properly after that but think the escaping gas finished off the coil pack.

My point is, if the sparks just got changed, that's the first place I'd look!

What are the signs of a head gasket on its way out ? Also when I took the coil pack out this pack box kinda bent up , not sure if it's an earth or not

Would this perhaps be a problem ?

I will get a new coil pack and replace the spark plugs again I think !

If you mean the black plastic bit that bolts onto the coil pack nut then mine broke off many moons ago and works fine still, only a 1.1 though. If you got the correct sparks fitted they shouldn't need replacing again

its a capacitor for the radio to filter interferance and has no effect on the running of the engine.
Head gasket has multiple failure possibities - pressurising coolant from combustion gases, oil and water mixing etc

I think ill just try a new set of spark plugs first an then move to a new coil pack if no change ! Cheers guys !!!

Coilpacks on these are Sh*t... If its got new plugs I'd recheck them to make sure they're torqued up correctly and replace the coilpack anyway.

They're virtually a service item on these cars lol.
