£1,000.00 -- first things to do to my car

  1. #1
Come Christmas I may be able to get hold of £1,000.00.

I want some alloys and I want to drop my car. I just am not sure on how to drop it. I think £1,000.00 should cover some nice alloys, tyres and dropping my car but what would be involved?

Dropping -- new kit? Anyone point me to a website that describes what is involved and what is what -- would like to know more about suspension and its workings. In addition to this, what kit is required. New suspension?

Alloys -- Well new wheels and tyres, someone mentioned tracking to me. Anyone able to explain this to me.

Is it best I have my car dropped by a professional, would they allow me to watch -- I am happy to do it myself, in fact would prefer to.

1000 will easy cover it unless your going for big wheels and some shit hot suspension

first things first what do you want out of the car is it for looks or you using it for track

when lowering a car you will need it tracking as the wheels might be sitting at a diffrent angle

some garages might let you some might not

its easy enough todo as long as you have the time and tools as also the rear torsion bar becomes seized

Well I am looking for looks but performance at the same time. So alloys, look, lowering, look and performance in terms of lowering the rolling of my car hitting 30/40 around a roundabout.

I'm more than happy to do it all myself and one thing that is important to me is quality of products.

Alloys wise, well I am looking at 5 spoke alloys, 15/16" though I have seen some (12?) spoke alloys that look gorgeous. Ebay has the some similar to the ones I was looking at for around £500.00, new inc tyres. RRP, I think were £800.00 inc tyres.

    Does that help?

well id say 30/40mm all around you could get a full kit if wanted but just springs and lowering torsion bar will be ok but will prob wear out dampers quicker then normal so if you want can udgrade them aswell

alloys is a personal choice really 15s will be best for handeling but 16s are good for looks and are a bit of a compramise between 15s and 17s

First of all, no offence intended, but I wouldn't try and tackle suspension alone as it seems you don't really understand the working of your car. This is not a dig, I am merely stating that it is an integral part of your car, and to go messing around with it when you don't understand it might be a bad idea!

Instead of take it to a garage, why not ask someone on here or another Saxo forum? I'm sure there is someone close(ish) to you who has done it before and probably done more torsion bars than a garage! This way, you can also observe and help out, not only are you learning, you might also make a new chum who can spend hours fixing your car in the future when it falls to bits! (It's French, it's bound to!)

I have an Icelandic (Sp?) blue Furio, what do you think about white alloys? Something about them that I think could work?

No offence taken at all. My old man knows his stuff and will be with me 200% of the way so I am sorted there. Finding someone close by sounds like a plan.

    Anyone live in/near Farnborough?

I love how they look on your car but mate, you got some originality there, you keep it for your self and for others to cream themselves over. Much like I did. I've had to block me monitor to stop looking at them when I scroll down.

    :-)...

Lower 60mm on a full kit.

If you have to get aftermarket wheels get 16s at a max with 40 pro tyre. But i'd have 15s.

Whatevers left on an exhaust really.

60mm is a little too low for my liking. I want to be able to go over bumps...

    Have to go aftermarket ?
