Important! : urgent help needed. drivers door wont open

  1. #1
I've got a 2002 saxo vtr and the drivers door won't open from inside or out, I've searched google and this site and am still stuck.

    Info
    * the key turns on the lock and you see the tab pop up

    * inside and out handles move normally not jammed or stiff.

    * I've gotten the lock end of the door card open a little to see the rod from the inside handle and that seems fine and seems to move fine when inside handle is pulled.

Can't seem to get door card off any more as can't get door open and drivers seat in the way.

Really need to get this sorted asap as mot is due very soon.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Tried using the interior handle and trying giving it a bit of persuasion? The mechanism could be stiff? Spray some wd-40 in through the gap to where the catch is?

Yes I have, neither of the uhandles are stiff they move freely and I can see the rod from the inside handle moving freely but with out being able to get the door open I can't get the card off to be able to see and access the mechanics.

Think you'll have to bite the bullet and remove the drivers seat from the passenger side so you can get the door card off.

How do I do that? Is it hard to do? Never removed a seat from a car before.

    Cheers.

Even if I remove the drivers seat I still won't be able to get the door card off fully as there a screw were the door meets the dash. Or am I miss informed about that screw?

The seats easy to take out disconnect the pre tensioner and four bolts then she's out. You'll not be able to fully remove the door card but you might be able to move it enough to get in.

Great thanks, do I need to disconnect battery or anything? With a little search on google some places say I need to disconnect battery when removing some seats. Is this the case with my 2002 vtr?

I've got my door card offhand seen inside my door and everything is still attached from what I've seen but the door still won't open, I'm guessing that means sumit is wrong inside the latch mechanism.

Can any one offer any help on getting this dam door open as I'm completely stumped!!

I e spoken to a couple mobile mechanics and they said they believe its a spring inside the latch mechanism that has hone and ill need a new latch mechanism. Can anyone confirm is this is true? And were the best place to get a new latch mechanism from is?

Also is it possible for me to get the latch mechanism off and a new one on my self without being able to open the door?

Also will the lock have to be changed too that would mean I'd have a different key for the drivers door to the rest?

Update, I've spoken to a mechanic at a Citroen garage on the phone and he has told me that I won't need a new latch, he has said that I need to wind the window down fully and take off the rubber seal along were the window goes down, then look down there and I should see a bit that pops up and down when the door locks/unlocks( and apparently I wouldn't have seen this bit by looking through the inside of the door with the card off) he says it a very commom problem with earlier saxos that this bit end up seized. Apparently spaying this with wd40 and moving it up and down to work it in will fix the problem.

Has any one had this problem before and confirm that this is all true? Thanks.

These locks are easy as **** to do, the lock (the bit for the key) is wedged as such against the door with a metal clamp that slides in and out...hence calling is a wedge. There's no need to take the window down at all. If anything leave the window up get some new plastic poppers for the door cards, get the door card off and get the torch in there, you should see what I'm on about in there from that.

The door card is off and I have been inside the door.
