Is this a MOT failure?

Hello there, would this be a MOT failure? would 150 be enough for it to be fixed by a garage? the one where i usually go charge 40 per hour.
    Thanks.

Oh nasty. I ould check the rest of the turret as it'll probs be all on its way out.

    I'd say so.

I checked the layer just under that one and it's solid,i really hope it's just that in the pic.

    Thanks.

Yes any corrosion within 30cm from a load bearing/safety point(seatbelt mountings etc) is a fail.

if that where the bonnet strut is usually spot welded down on an S2?

    Yes exactly.

Mobile welder could have that plated for way less than that I reckon. 150 quid to weld that is a rip off

You would want to remove the suspension leg so you have to allow an hours labour to put that in and out before its welded

Cut the rot out, weld some strengthening plates on top (£40 from spoox IIRC) underseal - job done

no need to remove the leg, just drop it down so you don't melt the rubber when you blast the strengthening plate over the top.

oh wow definitely a failure, they will say something like suspension mounting
area excessively corroded. while your there i would check under the ECU and
fusebox they are common areas for rotting as i have just welded mine recently - but mine was alot worse, had holes on strut mounts and under both ecu and
    fusebox didnt take long though!

heres how mine looked on the strut top : http://prntscr.com/25hj8g

Well underside is very clean so that surprised me.

No pic of the boot area but that is good too!

Thanks for the info, that's all i need to know.

Alot of people dont clean right at the top of the turret thus what you have now.

Even though mines been clean ive still been bit by the rust bug myself though not on the turret. usual spots in the bay. its in for a repaint next weekend.
