Airbag Control unit removal

may be an odd question but if I remove this airbag ECU (see borrowed picture below) will my airbag light come on?

No, there's nothing to put the light on with when it's gone

so in theory by removing this it would remove the light if it was on ???

    Yep
But result in an MOT fail, as the circuit should behave normally
Key to second ignition phase, light on
Light goes off after 5 seconds (approx)

    That'll get you a pass!

its only temporary as I'm sending the unit off to http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111090532066 to be properly reset but I'm just concerned that might not get it back for the MOT

Didn't realise people had that done
I just plugged in some 2.2 ohm resistors!

    Cost pennies from Maplins!

To be honest electric/pcb components was probably my worst part of school.

I bought the car off someone who had fudged most things and this is final part after rebuilding most of the car as I want it all done properly

I'd check your connections before sending it off!

its a static light so presumed it was cos the airbag has gone off previously? (I'm aware flashing is for seatbelts) Is there anywhere best to check first?

Static is for the airbag itself
Flashing means wires to the seatbelt pretensioners
Just follow the orange wire and check for any breakages/earthing
It's more commonly earthing/not plugged in properly!

    Disconnect negative battery terminal
    Leave for 30 mins - 1 hour
    Should be safe then
Airbag is that old, probably wouldn't go off anyway haha!
    *disclaimer* it might!

I can sell you my airbag control module i had no light on and the illumination and the timings was spot on for the mot, only problem is if you plug it into your system and there is a fault in your wiring then it will put the light on.
