Back Box Fallen off

    Hey Guys,
The Back box of my exhaust fell off last night,
Just wondering if anybody would know how much this is likely to cost to get repaired?

    Cheers

Around £30 maybe a bit more if you have a vtr/s. Plenty of cheap standard brand new back boxes on eBay.
    Straight forward to fit aswell

I need it back on the road pretty sharpish,
How bad would a garage rip me off d'you reckon?

Should be the back box and a clamp. Maybe a hours labour as they always round up

Has it fell off the clamp or snapped. If it's fell off the clamp buy another clamp(and backbox if need be) and fit it yourself. If it's snapped off you'll need to get another center section and then remove you old clamp/backbox and refit. Take it a garage and you may as well go in with your pants down

2 bolts, 13mm spanner, undo by turning counter clockwise . Tighten by turning clockwise. Dude it's really simple, if you can change a tyre on a push bike you'll easily manage this

I've had this happen many a time, it's the centre section that's broken, it snaps just before the back box join, the clamp and small section of snapped off centre pipe should be on the back box part. Just get a centre section, don't let them convince you it's worth replacing the back box too.

1.1 desire mine, happens twice, got it to a garage just before it snapped the third time!

I had a snapped centre section on my 1.1 when I bought it, new downpipe and backbox off ebay delivered 55quid and it was fitted in 20mins flat!
Easy to do just make sure you've got a good jack, axle stands and some exhaust paste. mine rattled for a while coz I didn't realise the downpipe hook was banging against the body of the car but fixed that with a bit of rubber to pad it! SORTED

haaaa haha holy shit. Also got quoted once 750 for a recon gearbox ...

Best one so far is a breakers who asked me 220 quid for some scrap yard rear lights. I laughed in his face and left the premises still giggling

Friend of me got charged €250 for a new alternator. They didn't even change it.

Had a Hillman Avenger years ago (showing me age now) exhaust had gone on it and shopped around for a new exhaust. Eventually found a garage which was closing down and got it fitted for around £40 (early 80's) This was the complete exhaust from front to back too. Ya couldn't do that these days.
