Wanna give the car a lil clean and keep seeing redex and others saying they clean injectors and fuel system is it worth a go just the once???

#2For the cost of it, its worth a punt.
Watched an episode of 5th gear where they tried and tested it, and it seemed to clear the fuel system and help get back some lost power. -
#3I use it, keeps mine ticking over nicely. Got to 132,000 and she still skins great, no major engine issues, not even a head gasket, keep it serviced nicely and I use redex as part of my usual service with the oil change!
-
#4I've heard somewhere that its bad for older cars but I watched something saying its good for them so I'm not sure if it'll work or not haha
-
#5Redex is shit. end of.
You want something like castrol fuel system cleaner or a forte injector and system cleaner. Both are around £20 and you get 500ml you mix with 20ltrs of fuel then change your fuel filter. -
#6I think it's not too good if you use it too much, but once every so often can be good for the car! I do it every time i buy a new car!
-
#7BG44K, I don't work for them or anything but this is very good stuff I used it to cure some pinking problems I was having with my Desire.
I haven't tried the other 2 products mentioned but imagine they are of similar ilk and will do more than Redex, go easy though its potent stuff. -
#8As the man said redex is like gnats piss, will have ask the garage what they used on mine because it bought on the eml complete with rough idle for a while.Quote:Redex is shit. end of.

#9I once put half a bottle in the carb of my mark 2
Fiesta xr2 it smoked like a bitch but it run well afterwards . -
#10Got a bottle of wymms injection cleaner and stuck it in with a full tank of petrol hopefully it'll do a lil clean not expecting much. But if it cleans injectors enough to use them while New ones turn up
-
#11Used a few times never noticed any performance increase or decrease. But then again its didn't do anything bad. I just assume it did what it says on the bottle. Cant hurt to give it a try.
-
#12Wasn't for performance was to hopefully get my injectors firing a bit better till New ones arrive and are fitted
-
#13get them on an ASNU injector cleaner and replace the fuel filter.
the ASNU machine can also flow test them to check there all even
-
#14Have new injectors posted out and just did fuel filter
-
#15I use it as part of servicing the car. Can be picked up for a few quid in supermarkets.
-
#16I've used it a few times - it doesn't seem to be that fantastic at first whilst its in the tank...if anything if makes the throttle a bit slow and MPG worse. Once its gone through the system though the throttle is back to being on top performance and the MPG goes through the roof for a while! :-D
